The training support you can expect

Your initial training is carried out at one of our regional offices. The induction process is a series of face to face sessions where you learn all about Mega Resources and how we deliver our care packages. It’s vital at this stage that you understand your role as a carer, the responsibilities you have and the duties you will be undertaking. 

There are 10 mandatory training sessions that you need to complete. These cover a range of essential skills and knowledge which you will need in order to meet the needs of our clients. They include health and safety, first aid, administering medication and personal care.

You will also learn about the different conditions and how they affect our clients. These can change over time which is why we provide a wide range of training so you are prepared.

 

Mobility can be a challenge and support will often be needed to help with maintaining a client’s independence. This can change over time and it’s important to recognise these stages.

Clients with dementia are dealing with memory loss and are probably struggling to cope with everyday tasks. Understanding how they feel on a particular day and adjusting your care accordingly is vital to ensure they remain calm.

Elderly care is all about providing that extra help in their home so they can keep on top of daily activities.

 

The level-3 nursing care we provide is quite specialist. If you are recruited to deliver this type of care we provide additional training to support your existing qualifications. 

On successful completion of this training you will be matched to clients. For your first week, you will shadow another carer to ensure there is continuity for the client and to provide an introduction. It’s important to have a familiar face.

As part of our continual assessment programme, we carry out a series of audits every month and undertake spot checks. This is for your own safety and to ensure our clients receive the right level of support. It’s also an opportunity to discuss any changes to the Care Plan that might be needed.
